The Shodoshima Olive park is an olive lovers dream, not kidding. It’s one of the only areas in Japan that can cultivate olives as a crop, given it’s climate. The Island has been producing olives since 1908, and if you eat olives in Japan, then it’s more than likely they were sourced from the Shodoshima island. Needless to say, the 30,000 residents of the Island love olives, and you can find many unique olive dishes on Shodoshima.

The Kintaikyo Bridge is an iconic landmark in the city of Iwakuni, and was originally construction in 1673, and remained in it’s original form for nearly 300 years, when it was finally beyond repair following the events of a typhoon which unfortunately severely damaged this picturesque bridge, later rebuilt by local residents precisely to how it was before it was destroyed, and finished it’s rebuild in 1953.

Tenmangu shrine is one of the most important shrines in the Tenmangu sect of Shintoism, and is located in the mountain city of Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture. Tenjin is the Shinto god of scholars and was once an actual person called Sugawa no Michizane. Every year hundreds of thousands of Japanese students visit Tenjin shrines around the country to pray for scholarly achievement.
