Gunma Prefecture

Gunma Prefecture, located in the Kanto Region of Japan on the Island of Honshu, is a highly mountainous prefecture. Gunma is entirely landlocked, and due to the mountainous terrain, a lot of the population centers are located close to each other. The total population for Gunma prefecture is just under 2 Million people, with the capital city of Maebashi home to 1.2 Million people in the metropolitan area.

The mountains of Gunma Prefecture create an outdoor adventurers paradise, with countless hiking trails scattered throughout the prefecture. Skiing is also a popular thing to do in the prefecture, especially for those living in Tokyo as it’s on of the closest major ski destinations from the Tokyo Metropolitan area.
