Hiroshima prefecture is located in the south west region of Honshu (Japan’s main island). It is well known for the horrors which unfolded late into World War II, when the United States of America dropped an atomic bomb, on the capital city of Hiroshima, now with a population of 1.2 million people. 2.8 Million people currently live in Hiroshima prefecture.
Hiroshima is home to a wide variety of foods and flavours. As the region is located in the safety of the Seto Inland sea of Japan, Sea food is abundant in many places, with the region claiming that oysters are among the best in Japan. While at the same time, Okonomiyaki in this prefecture is nationally recognized as a must try dish when visiting Hiroshima Prefecture.
