Fukui Prefecture is a prefecture located in the Chubu region of Japan, on the coast of the Sea of Japan. Its capital is Fukui City.
Fukui Prefecture is also home to Eiheiji Temple, one of the most important Zen temples in Japan. Founded in 1244 by the monk Dogen, Eiheiji is known for its strict discipline and austere lifestyle.
Fukui Prefecture has a population of around 770,000 people and covers an area of approximately 4,200 square kilometers. Its economy is largely based on agriculture, with rice and fruit cultivation being particularly important, as well as manufacturing, particularly in the fields of electronics and ceramics.
