Tsukechi Gorge, tucked away in the eastern mountains of Gifu Prefecture, is a remote, yet beautiful outdoor area. The hiking trail at the gorge offers breathtaking views of waterfalls and crystal clear water fed from the melting snow on nearby mountains.
The approximately 850m walking trail takes you over a suspension bridge, over the river, and bypasses several waterfalls which pour out the famous turquoise water which makes the gorge so famous among nature enthusiasts in Japan. In general, it is an easy walk with a decent amount of elevation change, but overall, the track is very well maintained.

Accessing Tsukechi Gorge
The nearest major town to the Tsukechi Gorge is Nakatsugawa. The gorge is a 50 minute bus ride from Nakatsugawa Station to Moriyamajinjya-mae bus stop, to the gorge and waterfalls, its a 50 minute walk from the bus stop.
Due to the remote nature of this particular attraction, it may be easier to rent a private car should you wish to explore Tsukechi Gorge. With the gorge only being a few minutes off the main road, you can easily pop into the gorge when passing by the local area.
