Ukimido is a hexagonal wooden pavilion standing in the middle of Sagiike Pond, and is a popular scenic destination for those exploring Nara. It is a popular resting spot when exploring Nara Park, as well as being a popular photography destination in Nara, as no matter the angle, or the time of the day, the beauty of Ukimido creates amazing photography opportunities.
In Early August, Ukimido is illuminated with hundreds of candles whose light appears to dance on the water below. This occurs during the Nara Tokae Lantern festival.

Accessing Ukimido Pavillion
From Kintetsu-Nara Station, Ukimido is a pleasant 15 minute down one of the main streets if Nara and through Nara Park. Along the way, you will pass by Kofuku-ji Temple, which is another destination highly worth checking out on your way to Ukimido.
Ukimido is only a few minutes walk from Todai-ji temple, and Kasuga-Taisha as well.
