Akaike at Umi Jigoku Beppu Hell, Oita Prefecture

Oita Prefecture is located in the northern region of the island of Kyushu. It’s capital city is Oita City, home to approximately half a million people. Given its location in the mountains and along the coast, there is quite a large contrast of regional specialties and dishes. Agriculture and the fishing are both large industries that Oita has claim to, with the prefecture being the nations largest producer of  Saffron, Shitake Mushrooms and Kabuso Limes among other things. However, Oita is best known toe tourists as a hot spring destination, particularily in the city of Beppu, which is home to the famous Beppu Hells (Jigoku), or natural hot springs.
