Cape Hirakubozaki

Ishigaki's Northernmost Cape, with stunning views of the tropical ocean

A white lighthouse with a vibrant blue sea at Cape Hirakubozaki on Ishigaki Island

Cape Hirakubozaki is known as Ishigaki Island’s northernmost cape, and is revered for stunning views looking out towards the tropical oceans of the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.  Ishigaki is one of the many islands in the yaeyama island chain, in southern Okinawa prefecture. With endless crystal clear turqoise waters beyond, Cape Hirakubozaki stands out as a remarkable sightseeing destination.

The journey to the cape is part of the experience. The road north passes through farmland and grazing areas known for producing Ishigaki Beef, before reaching the island’s quietest and most dramatic coastline.

While there isn’t much to “do” at the cape itself besides enjoy the view, the sense of space and the incredible views make it one of the most memorable stops when exploring the island by car.
