Accessing Fujiyoshida & Fujikawaguchi

From Tokyo

From Tokyo Station, take the JR Chuo Line from to Ōtsuki Station. The limited express train will take about 70 minutes (2430 Yen one way) , or the local lines will take about 90 minutes (1410 yen) one way. This part of the journey is covered by the JR Pass. From Ōtsuki Station, you will then transfer to the Fujikyu Railway, on the Kawaguchi Line. This will take a further 50 mintues to get to Mt. Fuji Station in Fujiyoshida (1,040 Yen one way), or 55 minutes to Kawaguchiki Station (1,170 Yen one way). It shuld be noted that the Fujikyu Railway is not covered by the JR Pass.

Buses also depart Tokyo bound for Fujikawaguchi. If you don’t want to navigate busy train stations or transfers, or just want a direct service to Fujikawaguchi or Fujiyoshida, the bus is a great option. 

Rental Car

Using a rental car to get around Fujiyoshida and Fujikawaguchi is convenient and easy. Whether you rent a car while in the area or from Tokyo, Kanazawa, Osaka, etc., rental cars truly open up the Fuji Five Lakes area, allowing you to explore beyond the train lines and sightseeing buses.

Stay in Fujiyoshida

Fujiyoshida is one of the most popular places for tourists to stay, one of the amazing views of Mt. Fuji from the town, and also because the town is easily accessible by train from Tokyo – one of the few cities around the base of Mt. Fuji that has a direct train line from Tokyo. This means that anyone without a rental car who wants to visit the Mt. Fuji area is likely to stay in Fujiyoshida or Kawaguchiko (a further 15-minute train ride from Fujiyoshida.)

Fujiyoshida town is also home to FujiQ Highland, an amusement park with views of Mt.Fuji from the rollercoasters and rides.
