The Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden is a traditional Japanese garden located in the Minato ward of Tokyo. It was originally built in the 17th century by a feudal lord named Tsunashige Matsudaira on reclaimed land from the Tokyo Bay, and later became the property of the Shogun in the mid-19th century. In 1924, the garden was turned over, and was made into public property.
The garden is known for its natural beauty and traditional Japanese design elements, such as carefully arranged rocks, carefully pruned trees, and delicate water features.
Nearby, you also have the Hamarikyu Gardens, and a lovely waterside path by the ferry terminal, providing you with a great view of Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge. This pathway can provide you with a sometimes much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
