Farm Tomita

Poppy Field at Farm Tomita

Farm Tomita is a famous flower farm located in Nakafurano, Hokkaido, Japan. It’s renowned for its vast fields of vibrant and colourful flowers, particularly its lavender fields, which attract visitors worldwide.

The farm started cultivating lavender in 1958, initially for essential oils and perfumes. Over time, the beautiful lavender fields became a major tourist attraction. The peak time for visiting Farm Tomita is during the summer months, especially in July when the lavender fields are in full bloom.

However, outside of the lavender season, there is other flowers to be enjoyed at Farm Tomita from late May, through to October or until around the first snowfall of the year. Besides lavender, Farm Tomita also has fields of poppies, tulips, cosmos, and other seasonal flowers, offering a colourful display throughout the growing season. You can also find a greenhouse, which grows flowers year-round.

Farm Tomita has stunning views of the nearby mountain range. Thanks to the expansive snow-covered fields, Farm Tomita is popular in winter and provides an unimpeded view of the snow-capped mountains. Other year-round attractions of Farm Tomita include a dried flower house, an art gallery, the Farm Tomita Shops, and a small museum.
