Tempozan Ferris Wheel on the Osaka Bay

Located in the heart of Osaka bay, and mere minutes from the world famous Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, stands the Tempozan Giant Ferris wheel.

The Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel stands at 112 meters tall, boasting a circumference of 300m. Upon opening in 1997, it held the world record for largest Ferris Wheel for 2 years, until it was later passed by another Ferris Wheel in Tokyo. 

The ride on the Tempozan Ferris wheel is approximately 17 minutes long, which provides a calming, and beautiful view of the Osaka bay area. There are a total of 65 gondola cars that make up the Ferris Wheel, and each car has a capacity for six people. This is a perfect attraction for groups, and a perfect way to end off a busy day.

The Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel is a great place for night photography and sightseeing, as you can see many of the greatest attractions of Osaka, including Universal Studios Japan, Osaka Castle, Abeno Harukas, and the nearby mountain range on clear days.

At night, the Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel lights up with stunning colours, and it can even display the forecast for coming days.

In addition to the Ferris Wheel, the Tempozan Harbor Village, where it is located, also offers a variety of shopping and dining options, making it a great destination for a full day of fun.

Accessing the Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel

The Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is located in the Osaka Bay, and is about a 10 minute walk from Osakako Station on the Osaka Metro line. 

From the Osaka Loop line, change for the JR Osaka Loop line train at JR Bentencho Station, and go to Osaka Metro Station outside of the station building, from there, you can catch a regular train service from Bentencho, to Osakako Station.
