The Enoshima Sea Candle is a popular observation tower located on the island of Enoshima, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was built to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Enoshima Electric Railway, which to this day operates a train line from Kamakura, through to JR Fujisawa Station.
The 60 meter tall structure can be seen from all parts of the island, providing a beautiful vantage point for sightseeing. The Enoshima Sea Candle is popular year round, but it is especially beautiful at night when the tower is lit up. During the winter months, the Enoshima Sea Candle Illumination festival takes place, where beautiful string lights decorate the outside of the tower.
From the top floor of the observation tower, you have a 360° panoramic view of the surrounding area. On clear days, Mt.Fuji is visible to the west of the island.
The tower is can be found inside the Samuel Cocking Garden, and is a popular sightseeing location. On certain occasions, there may be an additional fee for entering the Samuel Cocking Garden – typically 500JPY).
