Mt. Fuji is undeniably one of the hottest tourist destinations in Japan. Tourists flock all around the base of Mt. Fuji, desperate for even just a glance of the elusive mountain. Because of the mountain’s geographic location, with several lakes, mountains, and a nearby ocean, Mt. Fuji can seemingly be cloaked by the clouds fairly often.
With some travelling for hours to get a view of Mt. Fuji, one of the most common strategies to get a good view of the mountain is to stay overnight in one of the many towns around the base of the famous mountain. In this page, we have recommended different towns, hotels, and areas to stay in the Fuji Five Lakes region.

Fujiyoshida
Fujiyoshida is one of the most popular places for tourists to stay, one of the amazing views of Mt. Fuji from the town, and also because the town is easily accessible by train from Tokyo – one of the few cities around the base of Mt. Fuji that has a direct train line from Tokyo. This means that anyone without a rental car who wants to visit the Mt. Fuji area is likely to stay in Fujiyoshida or Kawaguchiko (a further 15-minute train ride from Fujiyoshida.)
Fujiyoshida town is also home to FujiQ Highland, an amusement park with views of Mt.Fuji from the rollercoasters and rides.
