The Osaka Loop Line is a vital railway network encircling Osaka. Connecting major urban centers and serving as a key component of the city’s transportation infrastructure.

Renowned for its reliability and efficiency, the Osaka Loop Line facilitates seamless travel around the city, linking business districts, cultural landmarks, and residential areas. Its circular route is especially convenient for both locals and visitors, offering a convenient means to explore Osaka’s diverse attractions.

The Osaka Loop Line consists of 19 stations that service commercial, residential and tourist destinations, as well as transfer hubs to metro, and various other train operator lines. The Osaka Loop Line is the preferred way to get around Osaka for Locals and tourists alike, as trains are running frequently and reliably all-day, with trains running from as early as 5:00 am through until midnight. 

There are even rapid services on the JR Loop line to get you to your destination quicker, without having to stop at every station along the way. 

In addition, there are also a number of stations where you can connect to/from Kansai International Airport train services, meaning that you can get from the Airport, to most of the main destinations in Osaka easily, and hasstle-free.

Nishikujo Station: Connects to the JR Yumesaki Line to Universal Studios Japan.

Bentencho Station: Connects to the Chuo Subway line to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.

Shin-Imamiya Station: Connects to the Nankai line to Namba Station.

Tennoji Station: Easy access to the Abeno Harukas, and the Yamatoji line to Nara.

Morinomiya Station & Osakajokoen Station: Easy access to Osaka Castle

Kyobashi Station: Connects to the Keihan Main Line to Kyoto city.

Paying for the Osaka Loop Line

Fares for the Osaka Loop line are distance based, from 120JPY to 260JPY one way. Most locals pay for their fare with a Icoca Card (available to purchase at train station kiosks), allowing for easy tag-on & tag-off that calculates the fare automatically.  You can purchase these with a 500JPY deposit, and top-up as required. 

You can also pay each trip with cash at the ticketing kiosks at the train station. There will be a big map above the ticketing booths displaying the fare for the journey. 

As the service is operated by JR West, the Osaka Loop Line is covered by the JR Pass.
